A few extra shots of the protests on Wednesday evening, mostly in Fargate.

At the demonstrations in Fargate, tensions seemed to be quite high initially but fizzled later along with the majority of the protesters, who were totally outnumbered by police, most of whom were from other parts of the country.

After twenty years, things have come full circle since the miners' strikes, with the police presence once again demonstrating that where the vested interests are concerned, no expense is spared, and a confrontational attitude is adopted along with their intimidation. Perhaps the police officers involved don't fully understand the protesters' reasons, but those that do have to have difficulty sleeping at night, being part of an operation like this which initially was intended to prevent any demonstrations or protests at all.

People are protesting for their right to protest, and - as we've seen from the other great images on this site - for the plight of those who have no voice, in prisons here across the country, and those in Guantanamo Bay.
