New Labour council in Neath to eliminate school bus service!

The New Labour controlled Neath Port Talbot Council has arbitarily announced that the school bus service to Dwr Y Felin comprehensive school is to be eliminated from Sept .The council cites a severe budget problem It means that hundreds of pupils will have to walk up to three miles to school [and back home again ] every day.The council has dressed up the decision with a load of baloney about getting children fit but the decision is clearly a cuts one.The is a deplorable act because it will mean hundreds of comp children will face crossing busy roads in all kinds of weather conditions.
The council is known for its attack on its pupils.Several years ago it tried to hand over its schools meals service to a rat catching company but was foiled at the last moment .
The Neath branch of Respect has issued a call for the cutbacks to be opposed!

Ah yes...and who wouldn't want to walk to school in Port Talbot?

With the honour of having one of the most car-dependent populations in Britain, I'm sure Port Talbot's kids will love getting fit by running the gauntlet across a few extra dual carriageways.

With the council having just added to the town's morning congestion through those extra cars on the school run, I'm sure there's an opening here for a London-based regeneration bid to build loads more roads to soak the extra traffic up though!
