Having been a part of the SilenceBreaker Films stall for several hours, I jumped at the chance for a good nosey around the entire event, taking my camera in tow!

The event was wonderful, and had an amazing atmosphere, especially in the healing area! Even the questionably humourous presence of the Police on bicycles couldn't put a frown on it!

I hope you were there, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as myself! I also hope you paid a visit to the SilenceBreakers stall, and gained some more information about the work we do!!!!

And, the Sheffield CND; the people manning that stall, were lovely!

Take care, enjoy.

No cops?

13.06.2005 23:16

Has Peace in the Park ever thought about having a no cops, or cops not welcome policy? Personally I find the incursion of these protectors of Britain's war criminals into what is otherwise a really beautiful event most offputting. The Earth First gatherings don't have cops and it really makes a difference.

I guess if its public land maybe we can't stop 'em but having a few 'Cops not Welcome' signs around the place would dissuade them from coming on to the site.

SilenceBreaker Films stall - reason for police presence
SilenceBreaker Films stall - reason for police presence

Indeed, the irony of such a huge police presence at a peace event is not lost on me either. Some of them, though, looked almost embarrassed to be there. After all, Peace in the Park featured a group of hardened criminals and thugs if I ever saw one. Just look at us, for example.

Shiny Happy people

Hey, yes you are right. How scary are you, silence breakers!!??
I think the yellow plods in the park were a little irritating and potentially intimidating but, I suppose, it is a public place and they were obviously keeping the peace!!, which WAS the theme of the day wasn't it??
Good for you with your photos and your stall and, thanks for the comments re-the CND people, but, you must be careful as, they might take issue with the word "manned" as opposed to "staffed".
THANKYOU ALL for a really excellent and well organised day in the cemetery!!
Happily surprised.
Blimey
