Sheffield cyclists take over the roads in protest to the g8 and pending meetings in the city this coming week.

11.06.05 Sheffield Dissent Critical Mass.
Approx 20 cyclists took to the streets between 8.30 and 10.30 this am to demonstrate against the pending g8 meetings here in sheffield (15-17.06.05).

One activist brought cctv style boxes to attach to some of the bikes, (hope she got off ok as her bike chain snapped as we took over ecclesall roundabout!).

Police escorts on bikes, motorcycles and cars accompanied the action around the city centre as traffic was affected and information leaflets given out.

A number of cars hooted and some drivers waved or signed 'thumbs up' in approval. The action cycled to catch up with the Anti-War Demonstration on Devonshire Green.
Nice one all you early risers!

See very short video from this am, not all cyclists on it as a split occurred at the end.

Next Critical Mass planned for 15.06.05, meet 4.30pm Devonshire Green.
