The daily count, by nightfall:

12 injured - 2 in surgery in La Paz General Hospital. One cooperative miner lost his hand with dynamite.

More than 50 arrests

Also, police confiscated 1000 sticks of dynamite [trans NB- u can buy dynamite quite freely in mining areas of Bolivia] and 14000 Bolivianos [£950 - a LOT of money] from cooperative miners that would be their subsistence money in the city.

4 Campesinos injured

The People erected barriers in the streets around Plaza San Francisco

In Tumusia, Peru, Manco Capac, America and Illampu Streets in the centre of the city there are still community groups from the provinces occupying these streets.

The main traditional parties MNR, MIR and NFR have joined together to instigate the succession of Hormando Vaca Diez as president, the ‘man’ of the multinationals and the cruceña* oligarchy.

Later:

Hundred of miners and Aymara community groups were confronted at various times with intense gas deployment from the Police around Plaza Murillo.

From San Francisco to the Prado a white cloud covered the main avenue and the streets around.

No news from the state powers.

The so-called Bolivian Political Class carries on playing with the country. After the resignation of Carlos Mesa – leaving the last word to Congress – the ‘man’ of the multinationals, the president of the Congress, Hormando Vaca Diez played with the attention* of thousands of mobilised men and women by repeating many times that it could be the last session of the most discredited parliament in history.
