Roll up, roll up…it’s your only non-corporate, non-state funded, non-consumerist, environmentally-friendly (no generators, no sound systems – just the sound of you!), DIY indy mini-festie in Bristol this spring…this Saturday, 4 June, 12 noon, on reclaimed College Green, central Bristol. So do your sun-dance now!

Those cheeky little cubs at Bristol Dissent invite one and all to a fun-filled expression of defiance this Saturday. An utterly peaceful festive gathering, so bring frisbies, smiles, friends, water pistols and food to share. Featuring kids stuff n games, facepainting, 5-a-side footie (8-a-side, 3-sides, any-sides), clowns, earth & wind sounds, skateboarders from hell, parachutes from below, info stalls, bears and much more – bring what you want to find!

Have fun in the sun (?!) and register your dissent against the privatisation of public (green) spaces and services; the city council’s failure to provide adequate services for our elderly, sick & vulnerable; the growing ‘Big Brother’ of ID cards, biometric passports, ASBO’s and dispersal orders; the G8 summit of the rich and powerful nations this July in Scotland; and above all the increasing denial of our right to freely assemble at times and places of our own choosing – a right so crushingly denied 20 years ago at the Battle of the Beanfield, and during the miners strike, and ever more so now.

Freedom isn’t freedom if it isn’t fun, and resistance isn’t a stance worth taking without solidarity and mutual aid. So make a stand, blow a balloon, paint yer face, hand out your flyers, wrap a falafel with humour in pitta bread, and come on down.
