UKWatch (www.ukwatch.net) launched today!

UKWatch.net exists to promote a better understanding of UK political, economic and social issues whilst hopefully helping to encourage cooperation between activist groups.

We will be providing daily content on a wide range of issues and we aim to eventually have a majority of original content on the site. The site will soon be operating as the UK watch area of Z-net (www.zmag.org). A project such as ours depends upon the support of its users. If you consider our site to be of value please inform others about us and help spread the word. Below is a more formal introduction to the site.

Thank you for your time, please support us!

About UKWatch

UKWatch exists as a resource for all those interested in developing a radical critique of UK politics. Based on the model of Z Net (the highly successful US-based activist resource), the site aims to provide the same breadth of information and sense of community, while also being dedicated to achieving social change.

The site is updated daily with specially selected comment, analysis and opinion pieces focused upon UK politics, economics, society and culture. The site also strives to provide tools for further research by linking to related resources, websites and print materials. It aims to provide space encouraging debate and research, as well as a forum for developing a broad, cross-issue appreciation of the challenges facing the radical activist left in the UK.

Behind UKWatch lies the belief that radical alternatives for positive social change are not only urgently required, but also achievable. Only by appreciating the interdependence of issues facing the left can coherent visions of progressive change be developed. We particularly wish to promote constructive visions of a better society and work that discusses the tactical and strategic choices required to achieve them. Toward this end, the project seeks to encourage organisations, authors, activists and scholars to share their knowledge and experience with others in the UK activist community.

The site is run on a not-for-profit basis and is administrated voluntarily. It will never carry commercial advertising.
