Greet the new Immigration Minister, today, Friday, 20th May, 2005

As the new Immigration Minister, Tony McNulty, takes up his post he needs to know how we feel about his inhumane detention and deportation policies.

Today, Friday 20th of May we'll give our welcome to the new Immigration minister, Tony McNulty. Just turn up in front of  his office, 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Bring your friends, plackards, banners and noise-making objects (drums, pots, pans, whistles, musical instruments).

The new minister has moved to new premises, the address is:

3rd Floor
Peel Building
2 Marsham Street
London SW 1P 4DF

The new Minister needs to be  aware we are not happy to see people being deported to countries where they are in danger for their lives.
We are not happy either when people resting deportation are beaten up with no mercy by escorts, in the van or at the airport.

People who are detained and threatened with deportation cannot go and complain with the minister: we who are free ought to do it for them.

The new minister seems  inclined to turn a deaf ear to pleas and interventions from MPs,  solicitors and common people on the behalf of the people who are about to be deported. Let's make a noise he cannot turn a deaf ear to!

Funny day to start work and funny time to arrive at work... surely next moday would have made more sence. Greet him in the morning for his first week of work. Nobody working in government is still in the office by 5pm or even 4pm.
