Al-Qeada has been dealt a body blow with the arrests os several top figures in Pakistan,it was claimed yesterday.
'We have broken the back of Al-Qeada. We have put a dent
in them,' said pakistan interior minister Aftab Khan
Sherpao.
He cited the arrest of the terror group's No3 Farah Al-Liby, who was captured earlier this month by Pakistani
security forces.
Pakistan has arrested hundreds of Al-Qeada suspects in the past three years and handed many of them to the US.
Mr Sherpao also denied reports that a senior Al-Qeada
operative,Haitham a-Yemenai, was killed by a missile fired
from an unmanned CIA aircraft in Pakistani terratory.
Meanwhile,Newsweek magazine has apologized for errors in a story alleging that interrogators in Guantanamo Bay flushed a Koran down the toilet ijn a bid to get Muslim inmates to
talk.
It has pledged to re-examine the claims - denied by the military- which sparked protests in Afghanistan that left
15 dead.
