S. Korean government plans a new attack to smash the Migrant Workers Trade Union there.

On April 24 the Migrant Workers Trade Union (MTU) was established in the South Korean capital Seoul. The roots of MTU were in the Equality Trade Union – Migrants’ Branch (ETU-MB). More about the MTU founding you can read here.

In the night to Saturday Anwar Hossein, the new elected president of MTU, was on his way from MTU’s office (in Soul) back to his home.
At 1 am he was attacked, injured and arrested by at least 20 immigration cops at Ttukseom station.

In the beginning of coming week MTU will held a meeting to coordinate the international solidarity.

It is North Korea you should be worried about!

It is North Korea which you should really be worried about. Two million people have starved to death there in the past few years due to failed policies of its regime. It is also developing nuclear weapons and has one of the most despotic and dangerous regimes on earth.

no, you should be opposed to both. the point of new cold war demonising is to use bad guys to make our bad guys look like good guys when in fact there are 2 bad guys. same as the old cold war demonising.

North Korea is fucked up

North Korea is a hugely dodgy Stalinist dictatorships where people have almost ZERO freedom and where millions of people are literally starving.

I'm sure no Indymedia readers are supporters of Kim Jong Il. If you were trying to score points because you think "people like us" would be inclined to support this kind of regime then you're seriously mistaken.

It's a warped and twisted attempt at "socialism". If you want to know why the noble ideal of socialism is so prone to going rotten, read Animal Farm by George Orwell.

But like the previous poster says, the problems with North Korea are no excuse for backing the status quo in South Korea or in Britain or America or France or Germany or any other country. Injustice is endemic throughout the world, and is caused by concentrations of capital and other forms of hierarchical power.
