In a ceremony in Bantoli, a village in the state of Jharkand, India, Prem Rawat laid the cornerstone for the foundation of a facility that will bring free nutritious meals to children and adults in the area.
Prem Rawat said, “When I first came here, I saw that the people were very rich in heart, but lacked the most basic necessities. I felt it would be good if a facility were developed where food could be made available to the needy. It is with this intention that The Prem Rawat Foundation is launching this project, which will benefit the people of Bantoli and, in particular, the children.”
Linda Pascotto, President of the Foundation, said, “These people have an annual per capita income of US $65. 72% of the women suffer from chronic malnutrition, and 60% of the preschool children are underweight. Many suffer from terrible diseases caused by chronic undernourishment. Getting nutritious food will help them escape the cycle of diseases stemming from malnutrition so they can lead normal, healthy lives with the possibility of a bright future.”
