New Galloway Revelation!!

Guido | 12.05.2005 09:43 | Analysis | London

A new report by the Republican dominated US senate has implicated Respect MP George Galloway in the Oil for food scandal. Also in the frame is a French Minister and the UN.

Of course it's just coincidence that all three were totally opposed to the war? It is also unimportant that the senates info has come from a corrupt former Baathist who is presently being detained indefinately by the US occupiers and is desparate to curry favour with them?

I'm just surprised that they didnt manage to implicate Iran and North Korea as well.

Oona: "George I'm afraid I have some bad news. It seems that following their revelation about the danger we're in from Iraq's WMD; America's neo cons are now saying that you have been stockpiling worthless Iraqi oil vouchers."

George: "And the bad news is?"

Neocon power

12.05.2005 10:25

The power of the Neocon establishment never ceases to amaze me. I'm sure we all remember the incredible film they faked of George meeting Saddam and lavishing praise on him, the part where they showed him passing gifts to Saddam or the time when they altered the records of the Co-Op bank to show how George's charity had received a substantial cash donation from the Iraqi regime and how they got someone to impersonate George and use that same cash to buy a house in North London. All the time this was happening George was in fact helping old ladies accross the street and saving puppies from rivers as we all know.

Yes the power of the Neocons is truly something to behold.

Galloway IS Saddam, and Stalin too!

12.05.2005 11:29

Using undiscovered evidence, Fox News has established that so-called anti-war Respect MP George Galloway is none other than Saddam Hussein in a scary mask!

Furthermore Galloway/Hussein is also former Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, kept alive using secret techniques by sinister Muslim Sorcerer Fu-Manchu to front his global Jihad.

Galloway/Hussein/Stalin/Hitler claims to have 'won' an 'election' in 'Bethnal'. Fox News can find no evidence that this place existed prior to 5 May, and many commentators have suggested it was hastily contructed out of Weapons-Grade Plutonium by Al-Quaeda.

Galloway is a fat stalinist

12.05.2005 11:56

like the above comment: and those neocons who sent a lookalike to whip up anti-semitism and racism and profit from it, again.

Let's face it, Galloway is a fat stalinist egotistical prick. and to have his name linked to the anti-war movement is a grey smear over all our faces.

Where was George?

12.05.2005 11:56

At the time when Saddam and his gang were in control of Iraq (with the resulting mass graves and floods of refugees), was George protesting against this abuse of their human rights? Or was he blissfully unaware till recently?

If you oppose the occupation of Iraq by neocon armies, then you should have also opposed its occupation by the Baath.

Nothing New

12.05.2005 12:04

The US Senate Commitee have produced no new evidence: they are only even claiming that
he might have received something. This is complete bullshit: how scared are the establishment of respect and Galloway? A lot apparrently.

I did not think he would get elected 6 months ago, and that RESPECT would disappear. I was wrong. They are not going way, and will probably move on to greater things. Good luck to them.

Who hates George? And why? He's a threat.
US establishment (Big Bullshit investigation of Black propaganda). Tony Bullshitter Blair ... and the following:

News Night, Today Programme, world at One; Radio 5 BBC, (In fact the whole of the Beeb) ITV, Rupert Murdock’s pile of crap empire; Uoona King (wonder why?); Private Eye's and Have I got News for You 's overgrown schoolboy Knob head, Ian Hislop; Tony Blair (wonder why); Tory Party; Liberal Party; most of the Labour Party except the Dudes on our side (Anti Authoritians, socialists and the like; Sadam Hussein really disliked him; BNP; Israeli State; Donald Rumsfeld and the Neocons (not the band). Daily Telegraph (lost libel suits), tuns of other publications that flasely accused him of something dodgy - and were wrong ...

There's a pattern imerging here: all the worlds free-marketter toss-pot lairs, you'd like to see fired into outer space strapped to a rocket.

George has caused more shit for this lot, and won - beat them. And he'll be in parliament giving the B's a hard time. He's not perfect, a tad on the arrogant side humble - but neither am I; and neither are you.

He's done all this on an MP's salary + media work top ups which are all pc. That's amazing value for money. And the lad's gorgeous.

Yep Abu

12.05.2005 12:19

He was one of the only ones who did, unlike Blair, Robin Cook, Jack Straw.

Nice false dichotomy you set up there, if you are in favour of this, you must be against this.

It's a rubbish little rhetorical trick used by propogandists and it doesn't work.

Nice try though.

OIL FOR FOOD SCAM

12.05.2005 14:32

well apart from wether or not Georgie boy has opened his own filling station it would appear that the Oil for food
scam was just that and no different from all the other UN / WHO / WB scams where the jackals fight it out with the vultures for an extended stay at the trough. The commision is only suggesting that george might have had a peck at the cracass but as the whole thing was an under the counter affair they really don't know for sure, but as he is certainly a severe pain in the Bliars Butt why not throw his name into the hat ..

radical scepticism

12.05.2005 14:56

The US government fabricated lies to convince the world that Iraq had WMD, now they're regurgitating a tired old story about Galloway a week to the day after he humiliated New Labour at the ballot box.

The documents which led to the Telegraph plastering allegations all over the front page about Galloway and oil-for-food got shown to be a completely fake, so they went away and made some more! It's so transparent it's not even funny.

They're following the old principle that if you repeat a lie often enough someone, somewhere will take it seriously. But unfortunately the internet is making it harder and harder for these people to control and manipulate public debate. We have to keep reminding people of the truth - that the US government is a tainted-witness - a pathological liar who lied about WMD and will happily keep lying whenever they perceive it to be in their interests.

A few faked documents smearing George Galloway are small fry compared to the lies they've already told. The problem is that every lie they tell discredits them further in the eyes of the rest of the world.

US SENATE COMMITTEE

US Senate Committee = House UnAmerican Activities Committee.

Enough said.

Senator McCarthy's Ghost.

Galloway vows to confront Senate committee
12/05/2005

George Galloway, the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, welcomed the opportunity - so far denied - to testify before the Senate committee in Washington which has accused him of receiving $20 million of oil from the Saddam Hussein regime.

"I understand, through the media, that the committee have offered a microphone and a chair on Capitol Hill on May 17," he said. "I'll be there to there to give them both barrels - verbal guns, of course, not oil - assuming we get the visas. I welcome the opportunity to clear my name. My first words will be 'Senator, it's a pity that we are having this interview after you have found me guilty. Even in Kafka there was the semblance of a trial'."

Galloway reiterated that he had never been asked to appear before the committee prior to it reaching its conclusion, or to provide even written testimony. "This is a right-wing committee with an agenda which reached its conclusion before even considering the facts," he said. "Joseph McCarthy must be smiling admiringly in Hades."

Go get 'em George!

A question about solidarity and sectarianism

13.05.2005 00:10

Most of us here may be anarchists of one stripe or another, but solidarity with those who are pissing off the rulers of the world is far more constructive than banging on about stalin. Showing solidarity does not mean subsuming your ideals for the other. We would expect the same of course from them.

Quite frankly, I find this guys politics pretty dodgy, but he at least has conviction when most of the politicians we see today are spineless blairites and followers of the path of least resistance (as dictated by the murdoch press of course).

Some of you people who slag Galloway off: do you really think you will be able to help build a mass anarchist movement (involving the creation of alternatives whilst attacking the legitimacy of the existing structures of society) if you can't work with those who don't have EXACTLY the same views as you? Anarchist ideals are proven in practice, not in theory - so if you're refusing to work with others towards making them work in practice you're essentially shooting the movement in the foot.

And in no way am I suggesting Galloway would support an anarchist vision of society either. Just that we should put our principles into action and practice solidarity and mutual aid.

Another "find" of information to smear Galloway?

13.05.2005 00:13

Anyone remember this previous attempt to smear Galloway...?

David Blair, a Daily Telegraph "journalist" magically "found" documents in the Iraq foreign ministry claiming that Galloway had received money from Saddam Hussein. This smear attempt is reported as supposedly real news here:
 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2965789.stm

Galloway later won a libel case against the Daily Telegraph:
 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4061165.stm

An edition of the BBC Radio 4 program "The Message", broadcast in May 2003, suggested that some British journalists may be working for the "intelligence services" and placing pro-government propaganda in the media.

The unlikely "find" by David Blair of material in Iraq supposedly relating to an anti-war British MP would appear to be either:

* A fabrication by British or US intelligence planted so that David Blair would find it

or

* A fabrication by British or US intelligence given to David Blair directly

or

* A fabrication by David Blair, working for British or US intelligence, which was not found at all, but reported as "found"

So, the question arises: Is David Blair of the Daily Telegraph working for any of the British intelligence services, or indeed the intelligence services of any other
country?

Why smear ?

13.05.2005 08:50

He visits Saddam Hussain and publicly praises him
He sends gifts to Saddam Hussain in full view of TV Cameras
He accepts from the Iraqi Bath Party a substanial cash donation to a childrens charity which he uses to but a house for himself
He is unfaithfull to his wife and braggs about it to others at a party
He joins forces with a radical extreme Muslim group in an attempt to get elected.

. . .. and you think the Security Services need to spend time and money smearing him ?

Nice Try

13.05.2005 10:57

Christ!

No wonder Georgeous George is smiling, he must be rolling in it, and I don't mean neo-con shit! But wasn't it Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary General who was embroiled in the oil-for-food scam?

George, DO NOT TAKE THAT PLANE to Washington! They are notorious for dropping from the sky, like illegal cluster bombs.

Slick Rick

Dear Ex Respect Supporter

13.05.2005 16:01

Would those radical muslim extremists that are allies of Galloway be the same ones that threatened to kill him. Boy, that's just the sort of support you need.

I just think you are a sad racist who hates black people. After all, what could be worse than a bunch of poor black people getting politicised and kicking out an MP who oppresses them? Whats up? Afraid they are after your daughter? You were never in Respect were you? You couldn't spare the time away from the Israeli embassy to go to any of the meetings.

Of course, if any allegations that you make were true, you would use your real name, or do they still use pseudonyms in the Alliance for Workers' Liberty, that well-known bunch of racist Zionist cock-suckers?

More on the neocons

Galloway Loves Oil Money

19.05.2005 04:05

In reference to the above article:
"Of course it's just coincidence that all three were totally opposed to the war?"

Why would this be a co-incidence?

If these individuals _had_ been receiving money under the table through the oil-for-food programme, they would have ample motivation to prevent a war that would upset this cosy arrangement, would they not? Which came first, oil-for-food or the anti-war movement?

The other side of the "No War for Oil" accusation leveled against neo-cons is the "No war - for Oil" accusation against Galloway. Let's face it - Blair and Bush could have secured cut-price oil from Saddam without deposing him. If Galloway et al were on the take from the oil for food programme, they had much more to lose from a war in Iraq than the US and Brits had to gain.

Ed:
"He's done all this on an MP's salary + media work top ups which are all pc. That's amazing value for money. And the lad's gorgeous. "

That's strange, he's on the record as saying the King of the UAE and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia paid for his election campaign. I'm sure they agree - amazing value for money.

"This explains the whole affair":
Your link is to a rambling diatribe that hints at a jewish conspiracy. Everyone under the sun is accused of having secretly met with members of Mossad or otherwise having contacts with Israel, without any actual references being provided. The article considers it relevant that Oona King is Jewish (is she? I wouldn't know). Why is this relevant to the election in Bethnal Green and Bow? King was in fact the sitting member in Bethnal, and Galloway decided to challenge her. Is the article implying that Galloway is an antisemite? Or that Mossad is seeking to wreak vengeance for the unseating of a Jewish MP? Or maybe that she used her secret Jewish connections to trick Galloway into defeating her at the election? What possible relevance can King's religion have?

The subtext of the article is that Galloway is only being accused of connections with Saddam's dictatorship by a (jewish) 'neo-con cabal' because the accuser is usually guilty of the sin. In other words, if we can claim that Bolton and other American officials Bolton allegedly met with officials of Taiwan or Israel (two democracies that are, incidentally, allies of America and Britain), we can dismiss the accusations against Galloway as a smokescreen.

But Galloway has consistently said that his election campaign was funded by the King of the United Arab Emirates and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. He openly stated that Zureikat, his co-accused in the oil for food scam, was simultaneously his closest political collaborator in Britain and his personal business representative in Iraq under Saddam. Galloway not only met with Saddam, but his meetings were broadcast on television. He seems proud of his close connection with a man who presided over repeated attempted genocide.

I thought Indymedia was supposed to be opposed to hierarchy, militarism, government by religion and amoral fat cat international businessmen. What difference is there between Halliburton being involved in US politics and profiting from the resultant Middle East policies, and Galloway doing the same thing in the UK?

How many Indymedia activists have business representatives in hierarchical dictatorships like Iraq, or anywhere for that matter? I know I don't. Galloway says he has never received any goods from Iraq. So why did he need a business representative there?? Galloway's story doesn't make sense.

The only thing I can see in common between Galloway's politics (state-socialist Marxist), his buddy Saddam Hussein (a state-socialist military dictator) and Saudi Arabia & the UAE (theocratic dictatorships) is the maintenance of hierarchical dictatorship, 'oiled' by dubious financial transactions. Ask yourself: what does Galloway have in common with you? What evidence is there that this man, at the same time an avowed Marxist and an international businessman, is the 'conviction politician' Krop claims he is?

If the neo-cons are serious about knocking over the dictatorial houses of cards in the Middle East and replacing them with liberal-democratic market-based systems, then it makes sense for those closed societies to buy agents in Britain and the US. And Galloway would be a prime candidate - a businessman who is happy to back up his business partners in Parliament. If Indymedia has an alternative to theocracy, stalinism and capitalism, why side with a businessman who is in Saudi Arabia's back pocket?
