2. Legal support info
G8 Legal Support is a Dissent working group. They will provide info, legal & arrest support for protesters in Scotland. They aim to have at least 50 legal observers on the ground at the protests, backed up by a staffed 24-hour office. You can find out what they do (and won’t do); about the role of legal observers, and read/download ‘An activists guide to Scots law’ (draft) and more here www.g8legalsupport.info/

Currently from Bristol there are 4 confirmed legal volunteers going upto Scotland. If you would like to know more about legal observing see the website, and contact Bristol volunteers c/o  bristol_g8workshops@riseup.net putting ‘legal support’ in the subject line. There will be legal observer training in London on June 12, and a session can be arranged in Bristol if numbers warrant it. To confirm yourself as a volunteer email  g8legalsupport@riseup.net and copy to the Bristol email above.

A few local activists are also producing a ‘Stay free/legal support on protests’ briefing paper, out soon.

3. Transport to Scotland
Bristol Dissent decided ages ago it would not be organising transport (coaches, trains etc) to Scotland. Instead they encourage people to travel up in small groups (‘affinity groups’), sharing transport (own cars/vans or hire a mini-bus), by bike, or on public transport. If you are looking for, or have formed a small group - come to a Bristol meeting if you want more info or want to co-ordinate with others. Here are some other transport options:

Bike ride to the G8: see www.g8bikeride.org.uk/ and www.g8cyclecaravan.org/

Dissent Network trains from London to G8 details:
Depart Friday 1st July & return Saturday 9th July
Or depart Monday 4th July & return Friday 8th July
Trains depart LONDON Kings Cross 7am arriving EDINBURGH 1pm. Tickets cost £50 return. To download Booking Form: www.resistg8.org.uk/trainbookingform.pdf

Make Poverty History (www.makepovertyhistory.org/):
Are running coaches from Bristol to Edinburgh, leaving on Friday 1 July, returning 3 July, cost ₤55.00 return only. Their event is of course well worth supporting, although it is a shame they will have been & gone before the G8 actually arrive in Scotland. You could of course just go one way on the coach! Coach details here  http://mph.travelscotworld.co.uk/home/travel.htm

Car pool: see here for ideas and care-share offers www.cambridgeaction.net/thepond
You can also try here www.freewheelers.co.uk/index.php

4. G8 Summit events
Too long to list here, so please see  http://bristol.indymedia.org/newswire/display/22718/index.php
or www.nadir.org/nadir/initiativ/agp/resistg8/timeline.htm

5. Convergence space(s) in Scotland
A camping convergence space is apparently close to being sorted and will be run with other organisations such as Scottish CND. For latest info (keep checking for updates) look under ‘convergence info’ on the national Dissent website. See www.dissent.org.uk/content/view/44/97/ for current info.

6. Days of Dissent – reflections on past summit mobilisations. This excellent pamphlet is now available on-line at  http://daysofdissent.org.uk/ to read or download as a pdf.

7. Donate to Dissent!
Fighting back costs time, and money! If you have spare cash, or indeed a wad of notes for a good cause, bring it to a Bristol meeting, or pop it in an envelope addressed to us and leave it at our Box 102 at Greenleaf Bookshop, 82 Colston St, Bristol, BS1 5BB. Cheques payable to ‘The Dissent Network’ can be posted to us or passed to us at Bristol meetings.
Alternatively use your plastic and donate on-line here www.tenpounds.org/
