New Corporate Watch Report on G8

richarddirecttv | 10.05.2005 13:23 | G8 2005 | Globalisation | Repression | Oxford

Excellent new report by corporatewatch on the G8 in Scotland.

Corporate Watch's report, 'Bringing the G8 home: corporate involvement in and around the G8 in Scotland 2005' is now on the web, available to read, print and distribute. Go to  http://www.corporatewatch.org and follow the links.

The report brings together a lot of relevant information and exposes the links between corporate power, poverty and climate change. It also focuses on the summit's location this year in Scotland and includes an analysis of Scotland Plc as a microcosm of the current global capitalist system.

We will have printed copies of the report available in a couple of weeks. We are also producing a double-sided A2 map which will include information about the summit location, Scotland Plc and some of the issues that the G8 will be discussing. The map should be available at the beginning of June.

I've been trying to research the G8, to find out a bit more about what exactly it is I'm supposed to be protesting against this year ;-). So this is most welcome :-)

Just what I was looking for!

re. hard copies

Yes, there will be copies of the report at the summit and before. Unfortunately we will have to charge for them to cover printing costs, probably around £2 each. We are encouraging anyone to print copies off the internet themselves and distribute them, or get in touch with us if you want us to send you some copies when they are printed. We are also producing a map which will be ready in June and we will be giving awaybefore and during the summit, again please get in touch if you can help with distribution.

Send them to journos!

Since so many journos won't go looking in the independent press for the real reasons that we protest, maybe people could print a copy at work (if poss) and send them to a left leaning journo who might be sympathetic, but is maybe misguided enough to think that a "Make Poverty History" will be enough.

Just an idea.
