same old labour

"Elsewhere, in a wide-ranging shuffle of the pack, Mr Blair promoted a sprinkling of both Blairites and Brownites, offering as pretty well balanced team as far as those two camps are concerned - little grist to the mill of those looking for a continuing turf war."

the bbc today takes another hatchet to the english language in a cliche ridden piece of navel gazing labour party PR. this kind of illiteracy will give hope to the many kids bunking off school who still want a nicely paid job with expenses. as all those labour voters contemplate the new vw beetle and the nike baseball cap as promised in the manifesto, some of us might wonder again how ali abbas is doing with his 'new arms' (as reported by the bbc).

so how does the british public fare in a quick media quiz?
Q: if the labour party blows someone's arms off
a) can that person be given 'new arms'?
or
b) as the kid fumbles with a couple of pieces of articulated plastic for the rest of his life do you instead +say+ that he’s been given 'new arms' to pretend no harm was done, so you can continue to feel good in your nationalist self-delusion and - above all - so that you can continue to vote labour?
37% of the population votes b). nice one.
