AND THEY CALL THIS A DEMOCRACY?

In the 2001 general election the government had 40% support from voters and only 24% support from the electorate as a whole. Now it has just got worse. Voter support is down to 35% and support from the electorate is a mere 21%. Hardly what one would call 'representative'. True the turnout has risen from a mighty 59% to an astonishing 61%, which of course includes spoiled ballot papers. I wonder if this amazing increase might be due to the use of postal voting for the first time in a general election. Oh yes, and in the confusion over postal voting a number of well known broadcasters, as well as a humble friend of mind, were actually disinfranchised. What a glorious democracy we do have! It is obviously such a good idea to try to impose it by force on places like Iraq.
