World Naked Bike Ride - 11 June 2005 - various UK locations
World Naked Bike Ride - London Planning Collective | 28.04.2005 18:34 | Culture | Ecology | London
On Saturday the 11th of June 2005, many UK cyclists will participate in the second annual World Naked Bike Ride! This bike ride protests against oil dependency and celebrates the power and individuality of our bodies.
While there will be plenty of riders going nude, full nudity is not required. Just go as bare as you dare!
The World Naked Bike Ride will be taking place in various locations in the UK (London, Bath, Manchester, Edinburgh, etc).
During the first World Naked Bike Ride (2004), there were several rides in the UK including a ride in London's Hyde Park with 52 participants. This year, there are expected to be several UK rides again and even more participants. The World Naked Bike ride is part of Bike Week 2005 and London Sustainability Weeks 2005.
WILL THERE BE ARRESTS?
This is very unlikely! No one was arrested in any of the 2004 rides.
This year, the London ride is negotiating the route with the police. Other UK rides, may or may not do so. So far, police in London have been very supportive, and don't foresee any restrictions being placed upon the ride.
WHAT IS THE ROUTE?
The current proposed London route is available at the website via this link:

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
It is intended that all the World Naked Bike Rides in the UK are planned in a collective and non-hierarchical manner.
PLANNING MEETINGS:
At 6:30pm on Friday 13th and Thursday 26th of May, the London ride will hold our second and third informal meetings to plan and discuss the ride. Any other ride meetings will be announced via the Yahoo Group. These are the only meetings planned before the ride itself, so please attend one or both of these if you are interested in helping to plan the ride. We will meet on the Main Floor of the British Museum in the Great Court (map info below) at 6:30pm at the large cafe tables nearest the King's Library. I'll have copies of the WNBR 2005 calendar out, so it will be easy to spot the meeting. We will discuss and plan any rides proposed if people attending the meeting live in the area/region proposed and are willing to coordinate them. This means we will certainly be planning the London Ride(s). If you are interested in helping to get the Naked Bike Ride in your area rolling, please attend the meeting.
You can distribute leaflets for the planning meetings - available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/worldnakedbikerideuk
