Omar Deghayes

30.04.2005 13:29

I attended this meeting. The Tories contemptuously failed to arrive. The Labour guy looked embarrassed (and so he should) when Omar Deghayes mother talked about what New Labour's American allies had been doing to her son and to human rights and justice.

It is appalling to think of what she must be going through. Whatever her son has done (and there is evidence that he has done nothing wrong) he does not deserve to have this treatment.

I was impressed with the Socialist Party candidate who concentrated on how to build a movement against the false imprisonment of Omar Deghayes. He spoke with passion and compassion. Anyone who hears about Omar Deghayes' torture at Guantanamo is appalled or incredulous that the British government can condone this. Spread the word.

The LibDem seemed well-intentioned but confused.
