ACTIVISTS WARNING. Vandalism in Speedwell & Greenbank (+NEW COMMENTS)

Details of bill-board and other vandalism in Speedwell and Greenbank.
Beware a DANGEROUS PISSHEAD on the fringes of political activism. He is really dangerous. Two billboards near Speedwell Swimming Pool had Tory "Are You Thinking What We're Thinking?" posters. They were addressed overnight using a stencil which reads "PROBABLY NOT".
I think that most people here would agree that responding to these posters is acceptable and that they are legitimite targets. I've done it and and had arranged to do some exterior work this very morning.
BUT, across the road at the newly refurbished i.e. it has been derelict, Mental Health Day Centre 'The Speedwell Centre' their sign has been vandalised with the same red paint over the portion of the sign that says something like 'Avon & Somerset NHS Health Unit'. I think that most people here would agree that this is mindless vandalism.
Further down Whitehall Road near 'The Kings Head' at Greenbank there is another Clear Channel billboard that has been without a poster for a 2+ weeks. It was a plain sky blue colour.
BUT, this morning in letters about a foot and a half tall "CUNTS" followed by "ARE WONDEFUL" in smaller lettering. Whitehall Road is one of the main commuter routes into the city - hundreds of people will not have been able to miss "CUNTS" in huge letters in just a couple of hours.
I think that most people here will probably agree that this is at the very least counter-productive. Many people are going to be upset and alienated from political statements. It reflects badly on bill-poster activists, not least myself, and it's going to cause us trouble.
I arrived with my roller and paint to paint over the "CUNTS" at about 10.30a.m. An estates management van pulled up at the same time. He took a photo using his mobile and then painted over the offensive madness.
I have strong suspicions of the pisshead arsehole that did this. He's dangerous (can get people into extreme trouble) unstable and unbelievably indiscreet. When drunk&, he has a stream of dangerous bullshit in an attempt to impress. "I've been involved with this organisation, this organisation, we did this, we did this, this is the full correct name of the person involved with this organisation etc, etc, etc." He is extremely dangerous.
I have personally warned him not to make trouble for activists. His name is Trouble.

Ok, 'CUNTS' isn't the snappiest piece of billboard writing but.. Even when I see 'Kev luvs Debs', I LOVE that people are taking back these spaces. The fact that people feel empowered and not cowed by corporate advertising is a real triumph. And let's not be elitist about this - if one person has a right to spray their words in HUGE, then why not another? They run the same risk of getting done by the cops as the rest of us.
