Server seizure - why hidden

Rik | 17.04.2005 17:31

Why are these posts being hidden ?

There have now been four posts (one by me) asking for information about the IMC UK server seizure on Saturday. Why are these posts being hidden (and in the case of two being removed altogether). If the UK crew is under some sort of legal restraint then the details of that restriction should be known to us all. This is being covered on other parts of the Net so why not here ?

We can help

Info on Server Seizure

17.04.2005 18:02

You can find information about the seizure of Indymedias servers Ahimsa 1 and 2 all over the web. Resources have been collected in a feature on imc uk last November:

Ahimsa Gone and Returned: Responses to the Seizure of Indymedia Harddrives
 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2004/11/300886.html

This article includes a link to the factsheet of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which is legally representing imc in this case in the US. It is being updated if new information comes in:

 http://www.eff.org/Censorship/Indymedia/

There is a good summary of all the speculations on indymedia Germany. If you can find someone to translate it into English, would be great:

 http://germany.indymedia.org/2005/04/111281.shtml

Be assured that if there was any new information, we would make it public right away. Unfortunately, the Texan subpoena has not been disclosed, so nothing really moved since last november, when the article i quoted first was written.

Enjoy reading!

No servers siezed since last September

17.04.2005 18:16

A couple of servers were siezed last year:

You posts give the impression that this has happened again. It hasn't, this is why the posts have been hidden -- it's not the case that there has been another server seizure.
