ANTI-WAR CANDIDATES WEBSITE!

a voter | 16.04.2005 23:08 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Repression | Liverpool

This website displays anti-war candidates.

Have heard that Socialist Labour is standing three in Liverpool, two in Knowsley, one in Manchester, one in Bolton and one in Bury.

This election, vote for an MP who thinks like you do. One who doesn't think they should organise the world using bombs, tanks, depleted uranium, nerve gas, cluster bombs, torture, corporate takeovers, murder and mayhem in other people's countries.

If Tony Blair gets in, he will be the real threat to our security. If Michael Howard gets in he will follow the same path. Please forward this website to others and help persuade the 41% who didn't vote last time, to vote for anti-war candidates. Then the majority of MPs will reflect the majority of British people.

Vote to prevent future US led wars against IRAN, SYRIA, SUDAN, CHINA and anyone else that they just want to 'blow the hell out of'. We've already heard that June 2005 is the planned date for an attack on Iran and that the US list of possible countries to invade now totals 25!

Labour Party is a War Party no matter which MP it is

Please explain to me how voting for Labour Party candidates, as your site advocates, will prevent Tony Blair from getting in??

What we are given as 'democracy' limits our options significantly. I agree with the comment by 'active abstentionist' that this tactic will not prevent Blair from being elected - what will?

In the pursuit of peace it might be necessary to swallow ones priciples and try not to choke. Blair seems destined to regain power but maybe with a back bench which is populated by anti-war MPs it might be possible to prevent the next bloodbath. Or does 'active abstentionist' prefer the noble struggle to the actual prevention of war?

Personally I would ask people opposed to war to vote (if they intend to vote) with their true conviction, i.e. Green (or possibly Respect or Lib Dem) but I do not think this article should be hidden - it does not appear to contravene any of the guidelines and is certainly not promoting a political party, is it? Hiding it certainly questions the true nature of this site's intent. Is it to present a façade of objectivity? Or is it to facilitate change?

If it is the former and it stands aloof from issues then maybe it ought to be dismantled by those who seek change for it is worthless.

If it is the latter and its purpose is to act as a catalyst to progress then it is largely failing in its duty by steering its own course, as recent third party actions upon it and numerous comments from various individuals have shown.
