MARRIAGE

RAKMEENAK | 16.04.2005 04:25

Marriage has been labeled as a Gamble or a Shamble,
Marriage is a make or a break of a bramble;
Bless thy soul who feel its pith,
Before it culminates in a myth;

Here are my ten commandments about Marriage:

1. There must not be any segregation in this world due to religion, caste, creed and colour, in the institution of marriage. People with these refuted illusions don't understand the real meaning of a marriage.

2. Marriage is not just a one day ceremony where everyone is feasting and frolicking at the cost of two innocient lives.

3. Marriage is an encounter between two souls who were floating on two different boats. One can't cross the ocean with two legs on two different boats. It is a compromise, an aspiration to abdicate your vanity. It is not a contention.

4. Marriage is not over when the clergy proclaims "You may kiss the bride now." It has just started.

5. Marriage is not what you perceive as a spectator, it is what you were taught by the society and their macabre customs. It is not what you transgress, it is what you have to pursue.

6. "How many times I told you not to drape that damn tie on that damn chair?" Marriage is knowing each others likings.

7. "Honey, how many apples should we take to the picnic?", take few joules replied Joule - the founder of second law of thermodynamics. Marriage is care and attention.

8. Marriage is not mere a duty that one has to accomplish with all his dedication, it needs no efforts. Invest some thoughtfulness and relish the harvest.

9. You are not marrying for anybody else, but for you. It is an illusion that one has to overcome. It is an opportunity for everyone to welcome the new member of the family and know a different person raised by a different family and understand those values and convictions of that family and their culture. Marriage is a challenge.

10. Marriage cannot be measured in the balance of riches. Even the wreched bowers may dwell the best of the couples while the magnificiant castles may look ghost houses. Marriage is love.
