Indymedia censors itself

Indymedia hides articles from another Indymedia website!

9/11 on Indymedia

 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/309191.html

An article which informs Indymedia UK readers that other Indymedia sites have their own 9-11 sections has been hidden/censored (I'm beginning to believe the censorship protestors may be right).

Joined-up Indymedia?

Not joined-up, and proud of it

Indymedia is a network, with each IMC making its own decisions within the framework of the Principles of Unity ( http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/PrinciplesOfUnity ). So, no, there is no 'joined-up Indymedia' - if some Indymedia sites want to hilight 9/11 issues while IMC UK is more concerned about the distracting effects and right-wing sympathies of conspiracy theorists, that's all well and good. There's no inconsistency there.

Voluntary Slave

this is bizzare.

not news - please remove from newswire

16.04.2005 01:45

i'm fed up with this nonsense

would somebody please remove this thread from the newswire so it's not so cluttered with crap

fed up

More hiding please

I wish the vols would hide more stuff. I read IMUK every day and it appears to me that the newswire is getting clogged with lunatic rantings more and more.

I sometimes find interesting and researched news items but as a rule it's just opinionated and ill informed rantings by loons.

Cant we have a new guieline

FUCKING REACTIONARY

16.04.2005 10:47

remove this, hide that, don't let them debate the other

reactionary or what?

the cyberspace that you (and others at indymedia) are so keen to police is limitless in storage space (for all practicable definitions)

there is no clutter but in your minds

you don't want untidy (perhaps even wrong) info detracting from your wonderful insights and brillent focus?!?

one wonders what your real point is - perhaps you don't know

seems that the definition of censorship gets pretty bent around here - as does the notion of what is news and what is not

do some joined up thinking about the nature of information and its efficient exchange - hiding arguments that you disagree with never did anything but remove the ability to discriminate (active thinking) in the minds of those unwilling or unable to analyse

this allows stupid arguments to gain footholds

the only way to promote truth and justice is through honesty and full exchange

grow up and stop hiding behind the metaphorical sofa whenever information or opinion frightens you (whether it be right or wrong)

try developing some killer counter aguments, try appealing to latent human instincts by loving a bit harder - even those gross things like fascists and corporations - they need educating (ever tried eradicating them? - it sure is messy and usually ineffective)

then again you could continue to treat your readers as small children and wonder at the tantrums

Zaskar

I see that disruption is your speciality, Zaskar. Not only that but you like to brag about it. Sounds to me like your head is still pretty messed up from your past drug problems and you have the audacity to suggest that other people need professional help! Behave, mate. You must be terribly lonely to have to post your e-mail address everywhere and then, in sheer desperation, your phone number - no doubt in the hope that somebody will pay you some attention.

Anybody thinking that Zaskar has anything valuable to contribute to any debate ought to read this:

Then perhaps we can all ignore him.

9/11

17.04.2005 15:56

What is distracting about discussing alternative ideas about the 9/11 attacks? I suppose you don't see the immediate rise of a more obvious police state in the US and UK as well as other western nations. And I guess you don't see how 9/11 it was a launching pad to create more domination and war across the world. I think it was our Reichstag here in the US. I'm not a right wing nut. I am a progressive.
