leading sunni and shia clerics in iraq have called for a massive demonstration against the US-led occupation of their country on the second anniversary of the overthrow of the Ba'ath government.
people have been asked to rally in Firdus Square on Saturday where US troops helped haul down a statue of Saddam Hussein in footage used as victory propaganda around the world.
this would seem like an excellent opportunity for the peaceful people of iraq to use their collective force to bring down the occupation.

Thanks you've just changed my opinion on the war in Iraq I was totally against it but you've proved me wrong. If it wasn't for the occupation they wouldn't have any opportunity to do anything.
just visiting
nice one

peaceful intervention was always needed. the invasuion was justified by politicians who said saddam's regime was a special case needing to be brought down. but they made the mistake of thinking it had to be done through war. it didn't. how then do you think it could have been done without war? not tinkering about with US and UK foreign policy, charity concerts, WTO handouts or anything of this kind. the warring state of the planet continues because the logic that war brings peace persists. war = peace? are you still there mate?
