(32 cases before District Judge - see CAAB Reports for catalogue of arrests and alleged offences on website: www.caab.org.uk)
A another case took up most of the morning and it was not until just after 12.15 pm that the hearing involving Anni and Lindis, started. There were no members of the public present. However a reporter from the Yorkshire Post stayed for a short while.
During the adjournment, an agreement had been reached between Robert Moore (Crown Prosecutor), Richard Reed, (Solicitor representing Anni and Lindis) Anni and Lindis, by which a suggested plan would be put to the District Judge as how to make some progress.
•Six cases would be heard to begin with. Two cases involving Anni and Lindis (who has 30 cases against her) would be heard together and then four other 'sample' cases re Lindis.
•The District Judge would be invited to visit the American base at Menwith Hill (where all these cases have arisen during the weekly Tuesday evening demonstration).
•The District Judge would be invited to view the CCTV video recordings of the six cases.
In court, the District Judge heard that there were 38-40 police witnesses ?standing by? to give evidence. District Judge Anderson agreed to the above suggestions and he, Robert Moore, Richard Reed, Anni and Lindis went straight to Menwith Hill for the site visit. The hearing was then
adjourned until 12 noon tomorrow (Friday, 8 April 2005) - the District Judge would view the CCTV videos before the start of the hearing.

Day 2
09.04.2005 08:22
Harrogate Magistrates' Court
R v Anni Rainbow
R v Lindis Percy
(refer to CAAB website for chronology of cases: www.caab.org.uk)
District Judge Anderson was locked in Court 3 during the morning to view the six CCTV video recordings of the two arrests involving Anni and 7 'sample' arrests involving Lindis (out of 30 cases brought by the Crown Prosecution). We started at 12 midday - having agreed yesterday that Robert Moore (Crown Prosecutor) would present all his cases and witnesses first - followed by the Defence doing the same.
The first case involved Anni who had been arrested and charged for alleged 'obstruction of the highway' on 25 May 2004. Various Minstry of Defence Police Agency officers gave evidence with the video being viewed several times.
This was followed by the same process concerning the arrest and charge (very soon after Anni) of Lindis for the same alleged offence.
PC Grainge was invited by District Judge Anderson to spend time viewing the video to mark the time when he thought there had been an obstruction of the highway.
This is the second day of these trials. We have only managed to get through the Crown
Prosecution's evidence in one case and half way through the second case.
The case was adjourned until Monday 12 April 2005 at 10 am.
