No votes for the main three

dh | 05.04.2005 23:24

Not Blair, Not Brown, Not Howard, Not Kennedy especially with their disgraceful defection from the House when they could have voted down the Anti-Terrorist legislation
All of the same mould

Not a vote for a scumbag war killer or any halfway supporter

Track 6 - "Crying Time"

Oh it's crying time again, there's an election/ We can choose between a puppet and a stooge,
Nearly half of us won't even bother voting / Cause we know that either way we're gonna lose.
Now you say you've found someone to make things better / That's the way you've said it every time before
And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow / Crying time is what a press conference is for.
Oh it's crying time again, I watched the debates / I could see that far away look in their eyes.
I can tell by the way those weasels waffle / That it won't be long before it's crying time.
Now they say that voting makes the heart grown fonder / And democracy's the way all men should live.
Well my love for it can never grow no stronger / Long as half my paycheck for it I must give.
Oh it's crying time again, they're gonna bleed me / Psycho politicians don't know truth from lies
I can tell by the way they disrespect me / That it won't be long before it's crying time.
Now you say go find a place to live that's better / That's the way it was said many years before.
By some bullies whose notion of a free place / Is imposing their ideas upon yours.
Oh it's crying time again, third world is bleeding / Uncle Sam's democracy storms through the door.
The only thing in question seems to be / The United Nations role in all the gore.
Kings and presidents, all tyrants and emperors / Oughta go home, get a real job making things.
All these rulers are a fraud, it would be better / To let people work it out rather than sing.

Oh it's crying time again, I wish you'd let me / Keep the fruits of my labor and my life
I'd rather be responsible and free / Than protected from all challenges or strife.
Oh it's crying time again, won't you believe me (humming and fade out)

voting

no, disagree. vote lib dem.

this is an appalling prospect. we should be voting green or socialist or for yet to be formed anarchist groups or showing contempt by not voting at all.

but what is the aim? to make progress. that's either a revolution or reform.

so 2 strategies: 1. have a revolution, 2. make reform

my view is that to become revolutionary you have to go through a period of reforming, to raise consciousness amongst the oppressed peoples and this will lead to revolutionary momentum. a revolution will come about.

voting in a parliamentary election, against your sense of self respect is a sound revolutionary move. tough to do, but that's what revolution is about.

the strategy is this: first break the stranglehold on power. immediately, this is labour and the conservatives who operate as a ++single unit++. this is an important first concept to grasp.

unlike the states, we are lucky enough to have an alternative party at the moment which can challenge this single unit grasp on power. use it. break the stranglehold.

at the same time and constantly, activism outside the parliamentary system must be going on, raising consciousness, and building alternative political structures -wsf etc - as the now moderate parliament does it's appalling job. as our movement grows outside, the political gravity becomes more and more progressive. this is alreday happening.

if you think this is a bad strategy, look at today's media. the whole thing is a fake battle between labour and conservative with the lib dems deliberately played into 3rd palec already. someone somewhere is afraid, not of the lib dems, but of any move to the left however small.

vote lib dem and then wake up the following morning and get on with building the revolutionary movement outside government. no blair or howard or brown in no 10? i'd vote for that.

This Lib -Dem remember me the Labour party when they were in opposition, and then once the reached power the stabbed their voters and followed their masters the multinationals, I reccomend a vote for an open anticapitalist party or no a void vote (just write "wankers" on the ballot paper).

Vote Lib Dem????!!!! Yes, have you not come across any Lib Dem councillors then? I seem to remember all those people suggesting tactical voting to get rid of the Tories and then looking at the puzzlement on their faces after Blair's first speech. More suits and business as usual. Revolution not bullshit you overfed English consumer fuckwits.

Ship of Fools
