Shepway District Council likely to reject housing stock transfer.

At a meeting today, reps from Shepway District Council (Folkestone and Hythe etc)- also M.Howard's constituency, met with local residents, the local tenants asso and Aldbournre Asso to assess the results of the Housing Stock Options Appraisal.

The Council had already been able to reject ALMO, pfi,etc as options and were left with staying as is or sell off to Housing Asso.

Results from tenenats surveys showed people heavilly in favour of remaining with the council. (last autumn around 85% were happy with council svcs and 86% wanted to stay. Following a further survey on the above choice 95% of respondants voteds for the council.
The local SDC Cabinet will be given the recommendation to stay with the council when it meets next week. It is highly likely this will be accepted. The goes to GoSE, then to Full Council probably in June.
There is also to be a recommendation that the Council does NOT go through this again. (unless the Gov demands it or drastic changes in financial position).

So, some good news in darkest Toryland ...
