Can anyone living in the Southampton area (or with contacts there) keep an eye on this situation please?

Whether this deportation proceeds or not, it appears Southampton Airport is being used to deport people to Congo (via Paris - and, I assume, to other ex-French
parts of Africa) so some kind of action there would probably be a very good idea: leafletting flight crews, passengers etc...
Anicet Mayela is in Campsfield at the moment, and threatened with deportation at 9:30 am on Wednesday, on an Air France flight (details below). He was attacked and his hand was smashed by his GSL "escorts" during a deportation attempt at Heathrow on March 19th. His lawyers - Irene Nembhard and Ola Alatise of Birnbergs have lodged a complaint, which should result in the deportation being cancelled. But nothing can be presumed!
He is a very nice, bright 22-year old from Congo (Brazzaville; entire family killed in 1997). He arrived in England in March last year speaking no English; now speaks pretty good English, after just a year - spent
mostly in Plymouth.
His lawyers could also to tell you what's going on. But I am sure it would be worth examining the situation at Southampton Airport anyway.
I think it will be his birthday on April 13th.
