SCOTTISH ACTIONS AGAINST ARMS TRADE

There have also been recent actions against the Arms Trade in Scotland, with a 20-people blockade of BAe's facility at Crewe Toll, and a banner drop in Edinburgh amongst them.
FOR ALL THE REPORTS SEE WWW.SCOTLAND.INDYMEDIA.ORG (It would be nice if they were included on the UK feature page for the Int. Day of Action against the Arms Trade)

British Aerospace in Edinburgh is being blockaded as I write
Since 6.30 this morning about 20 or so activists have been blockading the British Aerospace factory at Crewe Toll in Edinburgh.
Activists managed to block both vehicle and pedestrian entrances for several hours with lock-ons and padlocks. When BAe threatened to cut off the padlocks locking shut the pedestrian entrance, the activists managed to reclaim them - for use another day!
BAe at Crewe Toll is used to build gun-sights for the Challenger II tanks that fire (almost exclusively) depleted uranium shells as well as components for cluster bombs (dropped by Tornado jets.)
About ten people are currently blocking vehicles from entering the complex using arm locks and lock-ons - get down there, if you can, to show support!
Followed by:
Police moved in about 11.15 heavily with lots of police and video camera intimidation. Eventually the group of activists from People and Planet Edinburgh and Stirling, Faslane Peace Camp and Anti-war Action decided to call it a day and left (after giving the butcher a box of chocolates for holding him up and him waiting patiently). The officers threatened to arrest people for being on private property using the Breach of the Peace Act. Consult a lawyer on that one boys? Doubt it!
There have also been recent actions against the WEIR GROUP in Glasgow, (maintain Trident and 1st scottish company to get contract in Iraq) inc. 3 phone blockades. Contact Faslane Peace Camp for more info.
