MIGHTY PEOPLE POWER have called for a cyber sit-in on the Mighty River Power website in New Zealand ( http://www.mightyriverpower.co.nz)

BACKGROUND
Mighty River Power (New Zealand) are seeking to fi re up the never-used ‘Marsden B’ power station (situated near Whangarei, Northland) as a coal-fired environmental disaster. Marsden B would annually release up to 2.17 million tonnes of greenhouse-changing carbon dioxide (CO2) into our already damaged atmosphere. CO2 is directly responsible for the increasing severity and frequency of extreme weather events seen around the world.Marsden B would also release toxic chemicals such as mercury, arsenic and dioxin into the local environment.

THE ATMOSPHERE IS FOR ALL PEOPLE
Government and business interests have failed to meet the need to reduce emissions and protect the environment. We need to take responsibility ourselves. Actions by Northland locals, surfers and even Greenpeace have occurred against the
Mighty River proposal for Marsden B. Around the world groups are organising to stop climate chaos and protect their societies and environment.

We call for a simultaneous worldwide electronic sit-in to support those opposing the Marsden B coal power station and those fighting climate chaos around the world. The sit-in will be on the Mighty River Power website (www.mightyriverpower.co.nz).
