In a sign of how desperate the government are to stop the animal rights movement from closing Huntingdon Life Sciences, and from upsetting Anthony Bliars other pharmaceutical friends, Sarah Gisbourne has been given 6 and a half years in prison for damaging cars.

Animal Rights Activist Jailed for Criminal Damage Plot

By PA Reporter

An activist who targeted controversial animal research company Huntingdon Life Sciences was jailed for six and a half years today, police said.

Sarah Gisbourne, 39, was also given a two year Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo) to start on her release from prison, the National Extremism Tactical Co-ordination Unit (NETCU) said.

Gisbourne, whose last address was in Hampshire, was arrested in the county in November and later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to cause criminal damage, a NETCU spokesman said.

The offences took place last July and caused more than £39,000 damage to property, he added.

They involved attacks on vehicles linked in some cases, though not all, with Huntingdon Life Sciences, he said. Cars were attacked with paint stripper and tyres were slashed.

Assistant Chief Constable Anton Setchell, the National Co-ordinator for Domestic Extremism (NCDE), said after the hearing at Peterborough Crown Court: “The police service welcomes this significant sentence that sends a clear message to other potential extremists that they will be caught and convicted.

“The sentence will also provide reassurance to victims of animal rights extremism.

“The crimes committed by Sarah Gisbourne caused great distress to the victims and this result shows that offences of this type will not be tolerated.

“This conviction has resulted from co-ordinated police work between Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Surrey Police and Hampshire Constabulary. It was a detailed and protracted investigation, using numerous detectives, forensic experts and search teams.

“Similar joint operations of this type, with regional and national collaboration between police forces, are ongoing.”

Dogs and Cats

I'd like to lend my support to Sarah Dinsdale, recently imprisoned for trying to save the lives of dogs (and cats). What a brave woman he must be.

Faced with those desperate scientists who just want to cut open dogs to see what's inside them and then stitch them up again with a pig's ear glued to their backs, she bravely went about trying to save them in the best way she could. There are probably thousands of pigs today that owe their hearing to the brave Mrs Dinsdale and I, for one, thank her on their behalf.

Long live the dog (and the bitch).
