South-East Anti-G8 Assembly

Glenn Eagles | 17.03.2005 18:54 | South Coast

THE THIRD "Resist G8" South-East Assembly is being held on Sunday April 3. The venue is is RISC, 35-39 London Street, Reading and the Assembly will be taking place from 1.30pm to 6pm.

The Resist G8 South East Regional Assembly is a co-ordination of groups and individuals opposed to the G8 and who are mobilising towards the G8 Summit in Gleneagles, Perthshire, Scotland in July 6th-8th.

This is an anti-authoritarian initiative and the assembly and co-ordination is being done without the need of formalised "steering committees" or by voting.

Said the hosts at RAGE (Reading Anti-G8): "These assemblies are used to co-ordinate activities across the South East of England, to announce initiatives and to discuss the political basis of what we are doing. "At the last gathering, held in February, there were 23 groups plus individuals from across the Southeast. "So far it is suggested that we start with a short session for introductions and housekeeping, then have feedback from working groups (and others) followed by discussion of these issues and lastly discussion of upcoming events/actions for mobilisation. There will also be a break of 15 mins.

"RAGE are able to offer accommodation for up to 12 people on a first come-first served basis, so if you would like accommodation please let us know asap. Its only floor space though, so please bring a sleeping bag! "Lastly, if people could donate a small amount to help cover the cost of the room (£30) it would be very much appreciated."
