US nominates Wolfowitz for president of World Bank

if there was any doubt what the real purpose of the World Bank was, the US nominates someone for its president whose idea of development is to bomb countries to bits for US interests.

Apparently, although lots of people are extremely critical:
"His nomination has been welcomed by International Monetary Fund head Rodrigo de Rato and UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw."

says it all really.

what does it mean?

someone else tried to say something about that earlier on  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/03/306745.html - it would be good to widen the discussion about this issue beyond the usual moans "ahh, here we go again", since it may just be a good thing for the wider struggle. Yes, it's a manifestation of Bush's fake election victory - everyone expected drastic changer for the worse,s o here we go - but in that sense it may just mean that the struggle consolidates and becomes a wider movement. It is clearly a reason for undecided NGO people -and everyone else- to agree with the confrontational side of the global justice movement and demand the end of capitalism, and stop dreaming that it can be reformed. No compromises!
