Dear health activists,

I am writing to you urgently in the hope that you can spread this news and avoid a potentially dangerous situation for healthworkers.

I received some information today that the Conservative Party is approaching health workers, asking them to come forward with “classified” information about a cover-up involving Lyme disease and the military and various large corporations. It appears that the Labour Government is guilty of covering up information regarding the true incidence and seriousness of this disease in the UK. However, the cover-up certainly did not originate with Labour. Any healthworkers who hand over such sensitive information to anyone need to know exactly who they are dealing with.

It appears that a Conservative councilor, David Thorpe, in Leicestershire had healthworkers contacting him after he had local press coverage regarding Lyme disease. Thorpe befriended a very ill Lyme patient who recently went on hunger strike to protest that she was not receiving sufficient care. I understand that Thorpe is now encouraging doctors, nurses and other healthworkers to contact him with details of “classified” information they may have accidentally learned in the course of their work, which he is passing to the Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley.

Please advise your members that if they have any such information, they should discuss the matter with a trusted union representative or other appropriate person only.
