URGENT -- CALLING all artists, designers, people with pencils, graphic geniuses, illustrious illustrators and image makers...

The CLANDESTINE INSURGENT REBEL CLOWN ARMY (see www.clownarmy.org - or below if you are baffled at who we are !) is in trouble !!!

We are about to go on our ridiculous recruitment tour to train regiments and brigades across the land in the art of rebel clowning, in preparation for operation HAHAHAA.. (Helping Authorities House Arrest Half-witted Authoritarian Androids) which will involve house arresting the G8 when they meet in Gleaneagles ....

BUT -- we still dont have a LOGO/INSIGNIA !!! lots of rebel clowns tried to design one, but we kept breaking our big crayons and spilling our paints everywhere and nothing that looked any good appeared !!

SO - CIRCA is launching a public competition to design an OFFICIAL logo for the CLANDESTINE INSURGENT REBEL CLOWN ARMY ..... we desperately need it for badges, rubber stamps, spray stencils, official documents and for putting on the side of our tanks (which we are knitting out of spaghetti at the moment)..

We want an insignia we are proud of that speaks of our values of LOVE and DISOBEDIENCE that has a STAR in it as clowns and rebels love 5 pointed stars -- we also are very fond of HEARTS !!!! and quite like CIRCLES...
It should be simpl, have the words CLANDESTINE INSURGENT REBEL CLOWN ARMY in it - It should refer to an army insignia and could have space for a motto !!! ... think shields, medals, etc..... it should not have many colours and should DEFINATELY WORK in BW ( for stencils and rubber stamps !!) If you do go for colour we like to mix - black for anarchism with a bit of red for communism and green for ecology !! and pink doesnt go a miss !!! BUT all balck or silver or gold would be fine too...

The Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army (CIRCA) are developing a new methods of political activism that bring together the ancient practice of clowning and the more recent practice of non-violent direct action (NVDA). Following Basic Rebel Clowning Training (BRCT), during which recruits begin the process of finding/uncovering their “clown” and learning NVDA skills, clownbattants take part in various forms of action against war and capitalism. Some recent actions have included occupying and closing down army recruitment centers, mistakenly disrupting a Johnny Depp premiere and welcoming George Bush to Buckingham Palace with a cardboard cannon firing pink pretzels. We see innovative forms of action as key for building dynamic social movements, but realise that the psyche is as important a site for struggle as the street. CIRCA believes that a self destructive tendency within many social movements is forgetting the inner work of personal liberation and transformation. this is an area our rebel clown trainings works on deeply, while also providing tools to confuse and befuddle authority.

CIRCA will be recruiting clownbattants as part of the Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination tour, leading up to the G8 summit in Gleaneagles in July and will be visiting Glasgow 23rd-26th June. For other UK dates see www.labofii.net/tour05/
