Genoa, February 22, 2005: Thirty-seventh hearing in trial over destruction and sacking of Genoa during 2001 G8 summit
Today's hearing, which focused on the deployment of security forces during the 2001 summit, was brief. Of three witnesses due to give evidence, the hearing was attended only by Stefano Romano, who headed a platoon of 18 paratroopers from the Tuscania Regiment at the time. His two colleagues were unable to attend as they are serving in Iraq. Romano's testimony on the chain of command and the Carabinieri operations center was brief although he veered off into the occasional creative digression. The next hearing date was set for March 1.
