Keep left in Bath

Left turn | 16.02.2005 20:28 | G8 2005 | Culture | Globalisation

As the Bath Spa stumbles from disaster, to handout, to rip off, to begging bowl...to the next disaster, there is one institution in Bath to be proud of. The monthly Leftism club night - third Friday of the month, every month, with a few specials thrown in.

Located at The Walcot Palais, in the Porter Butt pub, London Rd, Bath, Leftism's monthly club night not only raises funds for progressive causes, but it guarantees a great way to round off another stressful week.

A genuine mix of eclectic, foot-tapping, arm-waving, body-swaying, handbag-cruising music; laid back, friendly atmosphere; and pub prices. Safe in the knowledge that yer entry fee is going to a worthwhile cause and not some badass promoter.

For more info on the ethos of Leftism check out www.leftism.co.uk/ or contact the no-profit-making organisers at LeftismBath (at) aol.com to arrange a fund-raiser for your campaign. They provide the venue, DJ's and basic publicity, you help out publicise and work the door on the night.

This Friday, 18 February, proceeds will go to the Bristol G8 Dissent group, that encompasses both Bath, Bristol, and surrounding areas (until you set up your own local anti-G8 group!). From 9pm to 1am, 3 pounds on the door (2 pounds B4 10pm).

There'll be a Dissent info stall there, or contact dissent-bristol (at) subsection.org.uk for more info about what can be done to oppose the G8 killing the planet. See also www.dissent.org.uk

Have a good night now.
