conscious fashion week attacks London Fashion Week....

...well, not really attacked but we paid them a little visit...

fashion activist paid the London Fashion Week a visit earlier today, openning a free-shop within the precinct of the event.
free clothes were distributed as well as literature regarding human rights abuses committed by the fashion industry (a postcard with the title "Gucci's dirty secret" was a crowd favorite)

the activists engaged the fashionably aflicted in conversation, trying to find out their motivations for attending such an...eh...such an event.
the idea of free clothes (or free anything for that matter) was met with complete an utter surprise. many asked 'where do clothes come from?' or commented 'there is no free lunch!'

after about two hours of handing out clothes and literature the activists made their exit to the acompaniment of a rocking one man samba band complete with pink fluffy antennas. while leaving the precinct, handing out more clothes, a security guard approached the activists and firmly demanded that they leave. declining the offer of free clothes, the guard was still seen reading "Gucci's dirty secret" as the activists left the place.

conscious fashion week will be taking place in Rampart with interventions in Battersea park, throughout the week.
talks, fashion shows, hands-on workshops will be taking place. so get your ass down here.

Journalists paid by UK government to promote chinese goods

Pressure continues and may even have caused something to happen. The London Development Agency doesn't have anything clear on their web site about whether they will go on spending regional investment money on this crass way of putting UK manufacturers out of work in the name of subsidising the creative industries. This may be a good thing. They are clear that they will continue to subsidise the UK trade show in Paris and that could be a sign that this whole waste of money that puts so many people in the UK out of work will soon wind-down.
