Peak Oil - an online petition

The coming peak of oil production has huge consequences for virtually everyone on the planet. The mid-point of historical production means that the era of cheap oil is over. Why is the government no publicly acknowledging this issue?
Official IEA (International Energy Authority) reserve numbers indictate that the world has 35-odd years of oil supply still to be produced - at current levels. This time period reduces dramatically if you factor in 2 or 3% growth.
The first half of historical production was the easy to extract, high quality part; the second half will be harder to extract and more costly to process. What will happen to the world economy has oil becomes increasingly expensive?
