Report from EDO Action Day

SmashEDO, the Quakers and other local people who are not happy about the presence of evil, scumbag weapons manufacturers and dealers in Brighton met in a day of activities and planning against them.
The event started with a visit from the local police who kindly offered all the usual guff about 'facilitating' our march. They continued their presence for the rest of the day outside with a couple of wagons to help.
Many connections were made during the day and the four hours seemed nowhere near long enough in the end. With the Brighton Quakers planned Vigil this Tuesday it is clear that their commitment and dedication to getting EDO out is rock solid and will prove a vital part of the campaign and boosting the numbers involved. The vigils will become regular and together with the Thursday noise protests will give the employees of EDO no doubt that they cannot simply deny the link between what they do and the death of countless people.
An extremely useful Legal Workshop provided a great focus for the day and was extremely informative.
The event was followed by a march to Churchill Square much later than anticipated attended by over 40 people. The march was very 'fluffy' and for the first time we were not asked to leave by Churchill Square security and were allowed to protest in front of the shops without hinderence - although the usual police filming took place.
Please come along to the vigil and support SmashEDO and the Quakers on Tuesday!!
