ESF Trial this friday

This friday is the trial of an italian activist arrested & charged during the ESF in London in October. He is charged with:

1. assaulting police (Section 89(1) Police Act 1996)

During the third European Social Forum (ESF)in London October 2005 -where over 20,000 political activists from all across european converged to discuss, plan, network- 20 people left Middlesex university on sunday afternoon, 17th october, to attend the final ESF demonstration at Trafalgar Square.

They were followed by riot police who attacked them, without provocation, at White Hart Lane train station, forced them onto a carriage & held them prisoner until Kings Cross station. At Kings Cross they were forced out of the carriage, surrounded by more riot police & held in a cordon outside the station. All the time they were attacked, assaulted & threatened with violence by the police.

Four people were arrested oputisde King's Cross: 1 was released without charge, 1 accpted a police caution, 1 case was dismissed by the judge as the prosecution offered no evidence in court & the final case will by in court this friday (he has had to come from Italy especially for the trial).
