Dear fellow co-operators and members of progressive businesses,

Your local newspaper may or may not be keeping good track of the death and destruction occurring in Iraq on a daily basis, but If you visit the Durham Food co-op, the first sign you'll see in our window will inform you of how many GI's have been lost in this most recent war. The small collective keeping the sign updated does not pretend to represent the entire co-op, but our organization does truly value free speech. Thus far no one has complained. We believe our members and the community in which we reside deserve to be informed in no uncertain terms of the terrible costs of this oil/power grab.

We want to end the illegal war/occupation against Iraq. We believe that an important part of bringing this crime to an end will mean keeping people informed of its true costs and tragedy as the "spin masters and corporate media hacks" go about the business of covering up the crime. Please join us in this effort to bring about peace and preserve democracy. As of this writing (2/3/05) 1442 U.S. GI’s have “officially” died in Iraq. Sara
