BAE Systems university lecture disrupted

Members of the University of Birmingham Students Against The War group crashed a lecture organised by arms dealers BAE Systems last week, much to the consternation of the host department.
Word had reached the University’s anti-war group that a BAE Systems representative was coming to one of the Engineering departments to address interested staff members on industry-academia links and the BAE Systems Virtual University (see
http://www.baesystems.com/virtualuniversity/). Protesters decided to stage a short disruption shortly after the lecture began, based around dropping leaflets and registering disagreement.
Donning laboratory coats and gas masks to mimic weapons inspectors, four protesters entered the seminar room and distributed information leaflets (as no students were in attendance, the ethical careers leaflets were not required). Neither the delegates nor the speaker showed much surprise and no attempt at hindrance was made.
As the protesters left the room, a department secretary followed them out and immediately harangued them in the corridor, demanding to know by what right they had entered the room and reminding them that it was a closed meeting. The protesters made several noncommittal statements about freedom of expression and public access, and refused to produce any identification when asked. The secretary then went to call University security and the protesters left via a rear exit.

People don't crash meetings organised by arms dealers because it is our right - we do it because it is our responsibility. Apathy is complicity, so when it comes to crimes against humanity we can't just sit around and watch the last episode Taggart, shit as Taggart may be.
The activist networks at my uni (when I was at uni) did a lot of anti-arms trade stuff and it's good to hear that students at Birmingham are doing similar actions.
Now check out these Bob Dylan lyrics!

War profiteers *need* graduate labour

Intervening like this has a far greater impact than simply passively lobbying outside. We need more actions like this on campuses where war profiteers like BAe seek to recruit your specialist labour.
As for all the academics there, what's your excuse for complying with BAe's attempts to buy your knowledge and commitment to their industry of suffering and death?
Don't you feel any moral responsibility towards promoting an Engineering department at Birmingham University that values life over death?
Shame on you!
De-construct your role in the cycle of death!
