East Oxford Stop the War Meeting - Feb 1st

(posted by richarddirecttv) | 31.01.2005 17:21 | Anti-militarism | Oxford

Tuesday 1st February,7.30pm,
East Oxford Community Centre,Princes St(off Cowley Rd.),Oxford.

Yesterday's elections in Iraq have been hailed by Tony Blair and George
W Bush as evidence that their illegal insaion has 'liberated' the Iraqi
people.The reality is,of course,very different.
Most Iraqi Sunnis (20%of the population) boycotted the elections, and as
Robert Fisk reports in today's Independent newspaper,'the Shias in the
polling stations said with one voice that they were also voting to rid
Iraq of the Americans, not to legitmise their presence.'

We will be discussing the Iraqi elections and the continued resistance
to US/UK occupation at our next East Oxford Stop the War meeting.

We'll also be discussing ideas for the 15th Feb.Day of Disobedience
against the occupation and building for the global day of action on
March 19th.Finally,we also need to elect four delegates to represent us
at the national Stop the War Coalition conference in London on Saturday
February 12th.

All welcome.

George Roe
