MORE INFO ON PRESENTATIONS:-

Empire in the Modern World- the Hegemony of the Dollar: Answering those
puzzling questions- How does empire work these days? How can imperial
powers consume more than they produce and make a profit? Why does
America rule the world? This workshop will equip you with a basic
understanding of the scam known as international trade, and how this
reinforces the modern American empire in particular. You will also learn
how the rise of the Euro threatens to change this situation and bring
about a new era of international cold war. (Alistair)

Class: Different ways of modelling class and how these models are used,
followed by an open discussion. The workshop aims to take the open
discussion at the previous dayschool a stage further and broaden
participants analysis of class and/or provide them with the ability to
talk openly and frankly about class within our organisations in order to
strengthen the anarchist movement. (Dayschool Collective)

Sexism/Gender: Attempting to address various questions recently posed in a short poll: Are there different types of sexism and if which? How does sexism relate to.... yourself, your family, your relationship, your daily life,
the society you life in, the broader society etc.? do you think sex and
gender is something different? Why/why not? Is sex/gender a important
point of your identity? Does there exist more then two sexes/genders? Do
you think there is sexism somewhere outside(society, political group...)
or inside(your head, your relationship...)? Are you tackling sexism and
when how or you do you think sexism should be tackled? (Ulla & Ben)

[Sending your answers to these questions would be beneficial to this
workshop. Comtact Ben at  haha@riseup.net]

Recognizing Success: The anarchist movement is frequently bogged down in internal debate, telling itself what comrades should not be doing. This workshop will instead focus on positive projects with which comrades should consider involving themselves or learning from. (Bob)

Women Againat the G8: Women against the G8 is a group of feminists who
plan to oppose the G8 when it comes to Scotland later this year. The
workshop will focus on the summit itself, the reasons why we should
organise against it and some of their plans. (Women Against the G8
co-facilitation)

Radical Theatre -'Theatre of the Oppressed' games: It should be a
creative, interactive space to build trust, take a break from the analytic
nature of most workshops, and maybe work toward starting a political
theatre/performance troop. "Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and
can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can help us build
our future, rather than just waiting for it." (Augusto Boal, founder of
the theatre of the oppressed movement) (Kristina)

Anarchist Hierarchies: As anarchists we strive to work in groups where
everyone is equally valued and respected. When this works, it's fantastic,
but all too often it doesn't. This discussion could look at how hierarchies
emerge, and what we can do to combat them. The facilitator is also
interested in things like temporary hierarchies, hierarchies of experience
and the difference between charismatic people and "leaders" - but if the
group decide to stage a coup she'll be delighted! All welcome. (Morag)
