The Revolution Will NOT Be Televised

All regular readers about Venezuela will have heard of the excellent film by Irish Film Makers Kim Bartley & Donnacha O Briain, The Revolution will Not Be Televised ... and many would have viewed it ... its an absolutely must-see documentary.

However finding a copy might ne more difficult.

It details the story of the April 2002 coup d'etat against Chavez from INSIDE the palace ... it is the single biggest tool to prove the lies of the Venezuelan opposition.

VenezuelaSolidarity.org.uk is urging all readers to view the film and encourage all people to continue to see it.

However, it is still very difficult for the casual interested viewer to obtain a copy. This looks likely to still be the case as a result of the latest email to a supporter from Power Pictures in Ireland stating that it will not be distributed in the “foreseeable future.”

A while ago the BBC in Britain showed the documentary “Chavez - Inside the coup." This was a cut down version showing just the palace events.

It appears that the world’s media just does not want to promote the prize-winning documentary. Can you imagine a situation where there was a coup by extremists within America ... backed by a foreign government ... which overthrew George Bush successfully ... for 48 hours .. and it was all caught on film from inside the White House?

Apart from the wry smile on millions of peoples' faces at the events, the film footage would by shown 24 hours a day for months and years after. Every big business media broadcast would show extracts and bring in the usual ‘experts’ to comment from every angle of the footage and how America would need to invade most of the rest of the world to ‘protect democracy.’

However when this happens in Venezuela, the most apt title in the world for a documentary is chosen. This was meant to be (I presume)a reflection of the Venezuelan media ... so dramatically exposed within the film. However, it has become the only way to describe the reaction of the world's big business media. The film is perfect for Solidarity meetings and people new to the situation in Venezuela.

VenezuelaSolidarity.org.uk was informed in 2004 that negotiations are nearing a conclusion regarding the distribution of copies of the Film. We were hopeful that would be confirmed about 4 to 6 weeks later. However the latest information is more puzzling.

An email to a VenezuelaSolidarity.org.uk supporter from Power Pictures states:

“Unfortunately, for the time being, the doc is not available for sale, either in VHS or DVD format, and won't be for the foreseeable future.”

This is a film that everybody must see. Regardless of the distribution technicalities -- we urge everyone to watch the film. CONTACT VenezuelaSolidarity.org.uk for any information. In the meantime please continue to promote the solidarity work and please invite us to attend any solidarity events or meetings.
