Eight ultra-Orthodox Jews have been injured, some seriously, in a spate of anti-Semitic attacks in the London district of Stamford Hill over recent weeks, a senior Jewish official in Britain told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.
He also revealed that gravestones in the Jewish section of a municipal cemetery in Aldershot, Hampshire, including those of ex-servicemen, were desecrated over the past few days. This was the second such incident at the cemetery in two months.
In the latest attack by vandals, a total of 12 headstones were defaced with Nazi daubings.
The Stamford Hill attacks on conspicuously dressed ultra-Orhtodox men are believed to have been perpetrated by a gang of up to four men, who have been described as black and Asian.
In some cases, the victims were struck with iron bars, while in others they were punched, kicked and head-butted by their assailants. Some required hospitalization for treatment.
Police are investigating the incidents.
Mike Whine, a senior official at the Community Security Trust (CST), which is dedicated to defending the Jewish community, told the Post he could discern no particular reason for the attacks, which he described as "potentially lethal."
He noted that CST's annual survey of anti-Semitism, which is scheduled to be published next month, would indicate a pattern of rising anti-Semitism and rising violence.

Who is "tolerating" this?

Misguided young people who are angry with the zionist (NOT JEWISH) occupiers of Palestine use the ongoing illegal occupation and human rights abuses carried out by the occupiers as an excuse to attack innocent Jewish people - THIS CANNOT BE CONDONED AND WE ALL STAND TOGETHER WITH OUT JEWISH BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN OPPOSING THIS.
The Muslim community have become "the new Jews" when it comes to racist attacks and verbal (and often physical) abuse thanks to the constant Islamophobia fed to them by the controlled mass media and the UNPROVEN allegation that "muslims" carried out the 9/11 attacks (despite there being more evidence to suggest that the BUSH REGIME ENGINEERED 9/11 than there is for the offical, half-baked "explanation").
Wherever people are attacked simply because of their religion or race WE MUST STAND UP FOR THEM - whatever our views about political situations across the world. Yes I am against the zionist occupation of Palestine, but I would never wish any harm to come to innocent Jews - that is the action of Nazis.
If anyone wants to know why I keep calling "israel" the ZIONIST state (instead of the "Jewish" state as the media love to refer to it as) then read:
http://www.JEWSnotZionists.org for more info.
Zionism is a political ideology (and a very racist, almost Nazi-like ideology at that) and Judaism is a peaceful religion - GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT AND STOP ATTACKING JEWS - WE CONDEM YOU. If you have problems with the zionist occupation then fight it in constructive ways not through mindless violence against innocents - that just makes you are evil as the illegal occupier zionists.

And of course we can expect unbiased coverage from the Jerusalem Post, Conrad Black's Likudnik rag. I daresay this appeared directly opposite articles condemning the bombing and gunning down of Palestinian children in the street, did it? Hmm, thought not.
Isn't Mike Whine the most appropriate name for a Zionist apologist you could think of? If the Jewish community wants to reduce the possibility of anti-Semitic attacks it could condemn Israel's murderous regime in the same way that it expects every Muslim in the world to condemn the Palestinians who resist the illegal annexation of their land. But that's not too likely either.

divide and rule

The obvious motivation being to divide and rule, ie. set Jews against Arabs and vice versa in the hopes of splitting the anti-war movement and preventing any challenge to the right-wing imperialist order.
So, to the original poster, can you provide links to corroborating reports of these events _from sources in Stamford Hill_? If not it seems implausible.

Anyway - this is from the Hackney Gazette (Hackney being the borough of London which Stamford Hill is in).

ANTI-SEMITIC thugs who have subjected Jews to a series of vicious attacks centred around Stamford Hill are being hunted by detectives.
The dangerous gang have now targeted nine traditionally-dressed Orthodox Jewish men and boys during a campaign of racist violence that began in December.
In the latest outrage, two teenage friends were set on by four men who pulled up in a green VW golf and cornered them in Ravensdale Road on Friday, January 7.
Det Chief Insp Ian Chiverton, who is leading the investigation, told the Gazette that high-visibility police patrols, launched in response to the early attacks, will continue.
"We've identified a number of anti-semitic related incidents in the borough and have been working closely with the community to identify those responsible," he said.
"We're taking these attacks extremely seriously."
Rabbi Abraham Pinter, head of Stamford Hill's Yesodey Hatorah school, said the Jewish community are fearful.
"They'd like to see these people apprehended as soon as possible," he said, "because the ferocity of the attacks seems to be progressing and if they're not stopped they could get more serious."
If you have any information, call the incident room on 020 7275 3281.

HARMONY ON THE WEST BANK
A remarkable experiment in ethnic relations is occurring in Stamford Hill. The Orthodox Hassidic community, some 20,000 strong, and the local Islamic community have set up the Muslim Jewish Forum, a body designed to ensure that the two communities co-exist in a friendly and tolerant environment. The Forum is made up of five representatives from each community, and will meet every month to discuss issues of common concern and serve as a channel of communications between both groups.
The Forum is quite possibly unique in today's world and can be seen as a revolution in Muslim Jewish relations, although the two communities have always existed in harmony in the area. Ismail Amaan of the North London Muslim Community Centre commented that the Hassidic Jews and the Muslims actua lly have much in common. They are both monotheistic faiths, see their religions as a way of life, stress the importance of education, have particular dietary requirements and are both minorities in the wider society. Indeed, he says, 'When they're house-hunting, Muslims often choose a Jewish road, they see Jewish neighbourhoods as safe and peaceful.'
As many of the Hassidic Jews are firmly anti-Zionist, the issue of the Middle East is also not a divisive one. Ismail points out that in pre-Zionist times, such as Moorish Cordoba and Muslim-controlled Jerusalem, members of Jewish, Islamic and Christian faiths freely intermingled and co-operated in their daily lives. Although there are clearly important differences in their religious beliefs, the two communities see the Forum as a practical step to mutual cohesion and understanding.
As most readers know, there is a road called West Bank in the centre of Stamford Hill. Perhaps the other West Bank could use this enlightened and far-sighted relationship as an example of how apparently antagonistic groups can peacefully co-exist?
