A wave of attacks of elderley Jewish men in London has now been joined by desicration of Jewish graves in Aldershot Hampshire. Ten headstones, including war graves at the cemetery in Aldershot, Hants, were covered with swastikas, SS sig-runes and "CO18" - the mark of far-right group Combat 18. Many Jewish organisations are reporting an increase in this type of activity, against the elderley in particular.
Police today they are hunting a gang believed to be responsible for a spate of attacks on Jewish men. The violent attacks, carried out throughout December and January, targeted men in Stamford Hill, North London. Scotland Yard has linked eight incidents and is looking for a group of Asian and black men suspected of carrying out the assaults. The first attack took place on December 6, when a 23-year-old man was punched in the face and kicked as he walked past the Yetev Lev boys’ school in Cazenove Road. On the same day, a 24-year-old man was also punched in the face as he walked along Kyverdale Road and the following day, a 15-year-old Jewish victim was kicked to the ground Hadley Court in Cazenove Road, while on December 11, a 14-year-old was attacked in a nearby phone box.
A spate of assaults took place on January 5 when a Jewish man was accosted in a restaurant on Oldhill Street by a man who made a Nazi gesture; a 49-year-old was headbutted in Leweston Place; and a 21-year-old was knocked to the ground as a gang tried to steal his jacket. In the most recent attack, on January 7, two 18-year-old Jewish men were confronted by a gang in Stamford Hill and one was punched in the face while the other escaped.
In nearly all the assaults, a gang of black and Asian men was seen in the area driving a green VW Golf. Racists have daubed Nazi signs on gravestones in a Jewish cemetery just days before Holocaust Memorial Day.
A similar incident happened in October last year but no one has been charged.
We ask all right thinking people to join with us in condeming these acts and fight to keep the Racist filth out of our communities.
