Australian Prime Minister John HOWARD said on Wednesday (12 January) that the Indonesian government's decision to send military personnel with international aid workers "makes perfect sense".

John HOWARD
"My understanding of what has been said by the Indonesian government is that aid workers should indicate their presence and should be accompanied where appropriate by the Indonesian military. I think that's a good idea. I don't have any criticism of that, I think it makes perfect sense."
