Forget The US Media - US Casualties Are Even Worse Than What Islammemo Reports

Many people think that Islammemo exaggerates US casualty numbers. The truth is that Islammemo correspondents can't keep up with the furious pace of the Iraqi war of liberation and may well be seriously underrreporting US losses. A recent AlJazera story highlights this issue. http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=iraq_war&Number=293259660#Post293259660

Muhammad Abu Nasr's daily Iraq Resistance Report for Friday January 7, 2005 noted the following US casualties in Abu Ghraib:

Resistance ambush in Abu Ghurayb Friday.
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with RPG7 rockets and BKC machine guns ambushed a US column on the highway in Abu Ghurayb, destroying one military truck and disabling a second at 9:15am Friday, local time. Eleven US troops were killed. . . .

Seven Americans killed in Abu Ghurayb Resistance attack.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded destroying a US Humvee and disabling a Bradley armored vehicle on the dirt road between the two other roads (i.e., the old road) in Abu Ghurayb. After the bomb went off, Resistance fighters armed with RPG7 rockets attacked, killing seven American soldiers and wounding an eighth.

The seven US deaths at Abu Ghraib were - exceptionally - reported by the corporate media and caused shock and consternation in the US camp:

Nine U.S. Troops Are Killed in Iraq
Martial Law Extended Through Election

Washington Post Foreign Service Friday, January 7, 2005

BAGHDAD, Jan. 7 — Seven U.S. soldiers were killed when a massive roadside bomb exploded under an armored vehicle in Baghdad and two Marines were killed in Anbar province on Thursday, the military said. It was the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Iraq since a suicide bomber struck a mess hall Dec. 21.

The roadside bomb exploded beneath a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, killing everyone inside the heavily armored troop carrier. The attack came in northwest Baghdad [Abu Ghraib is in NW Baghdad]]
AlJazeera reported not only the Abu Ghraib attacks described by Islammemo, but also a mortar attack that wasn't reported:

A US military vehicle, part of a US patrol, was damaged in the Samilat district in Abu Ghraib when an explosive device was detonated by fighters on Friday, Aljazeera said.

Aljazeera also learned that a house used as a base by US troops in the Zaidan district in Abu Ghraib, west of Baghdad, came under heavy mortar fire. Eyewitnesses said a number of US soldiers were hit in the attack.

The mortar attack against the Abu Ghraib base was neither among the action reports nor the daily bombardment reports in Mohammed Abu Nasr's translation and compilation of Islammemo resistance news. Islammemo reported 7 other bombardment attacks that day, mostly in Baghdad, which is pretty much average.
Islammemo and Abu Nasr are doing a great job, but even the fearless Islammemo correspondents are human. They is no way that they can succeed in keeping up with the Iraqi liberation forces when even the "mighty" US & UK military has failed.
